Smiddy Fun Week is a virtual event that is open to the community to partake in during #7daysofSmiddy. We encourage all fitness levels to take part, but recommend you are physically fit and able before taking part in any exercise.
The event is held in memory of PA Hospital physio Adam Smiddy who died of a melanoma in 2006 at just 26 years of age. Since then a fun run has been held on the PA hospital grounds in his memory.
In 2020, the event is being held online to spread awareness and raise funds during Skin Cancer Action Week, November 15th-21st. Challenge yourself and cycle, swim, run, walk for #7daysofSmiddy.
In Australia, the incidence of skin cancer is one of the highest in the world. In 2018, over 2000 people died from skin cancer. Researchers are working tirelessly in their fight against skin cancer. Every dollar you raise will go to support their work. You can read the latest from the Dermatology Research Centre here.If every participant raised a minimum of $150, we would get to our goal of $50,000. Your community will love to support you, let them know your motivations and ask for their support. Every little bit helps.
We will help you every step of the way and give you the tools you need.
